Western Sports Compass

Editorial policy

Western Sports Compass aims to publish clear, fair and useful writing about community sport. We distinguish explanation from opinion, avoid unsupported certainty and make the basis of a claim understandable to readers.

Accuracy and review

We check names, terminology and factual claims against appropriate source material before publication, and make clear when a point is an interpretation rather than an established fact. We do not present personal experience as universal. Readers can report an error through the Contact page; when a correction is warranted, we update the relevant wording and explain the change where it matters to understanding.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for relevance to readers and fit with our coverage. A commercial relationship does not guarantee favourable treatment, and a partner cannot buy an editorial conclusion. Where a subject calls for current or specialist guidance beyond our scope, we say so rather than implying that general information settles it.

Partner material

Paid placements and other material produced through a commercial partnership are identified clearly as partner content or advertising. We keep those labels visible and distinguish such material from independent editorial coverage. Partner links and placements must be relevant to the publication's subject and should not be mistaken for an endorsement of every claim or service.

Images and illustrations

Images are selected or created to support the subject and are not evidence for factual claims. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, they are identified as illustrations and are not presented as documentary photographs.

Our outlook

Sport grows when more people can take part

A welcoming sporting culture is built in ordinary places: a clear invitation, shared equipment and room to learn at your own pace.
